This year has been packed with amazing TV (I have watched a lot of TV and Movies this year!!), and I’ve loved sharing some of my favorites on Screens in Focus podcast! While I’ve already covered my favorite movies in Part 1 and 2 in a separate blog, this post is all about the TV shows that captured my attention. Some are old favorites I finally got to, others are new obsessions, and a few are standout seasons from ongoing series. Let’s dive in!
Shameless I started and finished all 11 seasons this year! It’s chaotic, heartfelt, and absolutely unforgettable. Following the Gallagher family through their wild, dramatic, and hilarious lives was a rollercoaster I didn’t want to get off of.
Cobra Kai Season 6 This season has been split into three parts. I’ve watched Part 1 and Part 2, and Part 3 is coming in February 2025. The series continues to deliver epic fights, humor, and heartfelt moments. Watching Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso face their ultimate challenges is always a blast.
True Detective: Night Country Season 4 Directed by Issa López and starring the amazing Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, this season is one of my absolute favorites of 2024. The storyline is captivating, exploring the mystique of Alaska, its culture, and its people. It’s haunting, atmospheric, and utterly gripping.
Bridgerton Season 3 The romance, drama, and stunning visuals continue to shine. The Bridgerton family’s escapades remain as addictive as ever.
Lincoln Lawyer Season 3 Starring the charismatic Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, this season kept me on the edge of my seat. A brilliant mix of courtroom drama and personal intrigue.
The Bear Season 3 The intensity, emotion, and incredible performances make this one of the best shows on television. Carmy and the gang are in top form this season. Emmy winners in this one!
Special Ops: Lioness Zoe Saldaña leads this gripping series as a tough-as-nails operative. Watching her in action is thrilling, and the supporting cast of Nicole Kidman and Morgan Freeman adds even more depth.
Vikings I came to this series late but am loving every minute of it. My husband and I are hooked on its epic storytelling and rich historical drama.
House of the Dragon Season 2 The politics, dragons, and drama continue to enthrall. The Targaryen saga is as fiery as ever.
Yellowstone Final Season It wasn’t quite the same without Kevin Costner, but I had to see it through. A bittersweet farewell to a landmark series.
Fargo Season 2 and Season 5 I watched Season 5 this year and was so intrigued that I went back to watch Season 2. Both are brilliant in their storytelling, characters, and dark humor. Truly some of the best in anthology television.
From This eerie, mind-bending series keeps me guessing with its intense storyline and unsettling atmosphere.
TWD: The Ones Who Live / TWD: Daryl Dixon Season 2 These Walking Dead spin-offs capture everything I love about the franchise. With my favorites Rick, Michonne (The Ones Who Live), Daryl, and Carol (Daryl Dixon), they deliver gripping storytelling, compelling characters, and plenty of zombie thrills.
Love is Blind US & UK (Reality) I’m totally hooked on the drama, romance, and cringe-worthy moments that make this series so addictive.
Tulsa King Sylvester Stallone’s turn as a mobster starting over in Oklahoma is entertaining, unexpected, and totally worth watching. Must admit Season 1 had me more than Season 2.
Honorable Mentions:
Selling Sunset (Reality) I can’t stop watching this glamorous chaos!
Only Murders in the Building Season 4 Not my favorite season, but I still recommend the show to anyone who loves a good mystery.
Silo Season 2 Not as strong as the first, but I’m still intrigued.
The Old Man Season 2 Slower than the first season, but Jeff Bridges is always worth watching.
Tell Me Lies Season 2 Not quite as gripping as the first season, but I’ll keep tuning in.
Emily in Paris Light, fun, and always a visual treat. Perfect for a breezy binge.
Virgin River A heartwarming and easy-to-watch series that feels like a warm hug.
Fall Out: A unique and thrilling adaptation that fans of the video game series will appreciate.
These shows represent some of the best moments in TV for me this year. I know I still need to watch Shogun!
