Hey there! With a plethora (reminds me of The Three Amigos! Haha) of content to stream and dive into, I'm here to help you navigate the best of what's out there. I'll be sharing my take on the latest shows and films I've recently binged. Let's dive in!
"Killers of the Flower Moon"
My anticipation for this Martin Scorsese film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, was met with an eye-opening journey into the forgotten Osage murders. The movie sheds light on the chilling manipulation, excellently portrayed by Robert De Niro, as it unravels the pursuit of wealth. The film's extensive duration, around 3.5 hours, might be challenging for some viewers and could feel a bit slow-paced, a sentiment echoed by my husband, who found the film a bit dragging. However, for me, the historical context, masterful performances, and the fusion of different genres offered a captivating experience that resonated deeply.
"Selling Sunset” (Netflix)
In "Selling Sunset” Season 7, tensions ignite between Chrishell Stause and Marie-Lou Nurk, stemming from a shared history with Jason Oppenheim. This conflict lays the groundwork for a compelling, binge-worthy dramatic narrative. The evolving relationship between Chrishell Stause and Amanza Smith adds an emotional depth, while new agent drama with Bre Tiesi, sparked by Chelsea's involvement, brings extra intrigue. The series showcases enthralling clashes between Nicole Young and Emma Hernan, and Mary Bonnet's storyline unravels a rollercoaster of emotions. The evolving dynamics between the agents create a diverse spectrum of emotions and conflicts, making it an absolutely captivating watch!
"Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony" (Disney+)
I love music so much! I had to tune into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame induction ceremony and it was a delightful trip down memory lane, with George Michael's tunes instantly transporting me back! (What is your favorite GM song?) Discovering Kate Bush's history and diving into Sheryl Crow's musical catalog, especially with Peter Frampton on guitar, was so much fun!! Witnessing Willie Nelson, still rocking at 90, was a true highlight. Dave Matthews gave a hilarious introduction that added a fun and entertaining vibe to the event. Check it out!!
"Sly" (Netflix)
As a big fan of Sylvester Stallone, diving into his iconic works, from 'Rocky' and 'Rambo' to the recent series 'The Tulsa King,' and enjoying his reality show, 'The Family Stallone,' has been a thrilling experience. This documentary was an intriguing exploration of Stallone's life, upbringing, and the pursuit of acceptance. It provided valuable insight into his motivations and self-discovery. It was enlightening to delve deeper into his background, understanding more about his relationship with his father and brother, revealing the challenging start he had and how his father treated him for many decades
"No Hard Feelings" (Netflix)
"No Hard Feelings" initially presents itself as a sex comedy but gradually shifts its focus onto Maddie's self-discovery. Facing the possibility of losing her childhood home, Maddie (portrayed by Jennifer Lawrence) stumbles upon an intriguing job offer: wealthy parents seek someone to befriend their introverted son, Percy before he heads off to college. Maddie finds that Percy is more complex than she first thought as their unexpected relationship develops. The film takes a watchable and humorous approach to the sex comedy genre, providing moments of laughter and entertainment.
"Fingernails" (AppleTV+)
"Fingernails" is an intriguing and unique film featuring good performances by Jesse Buckley, Riz Ahmed (always a standout), and Jeremy Allen (whom I loved in 'The Bear'). The storyline follows Anna and Ryan in a future where love is tested through controversial means, with fingernail tests sparking existential panic in the characters. Despite differing opinions, the compelling premise and talented cast held my attention till the end. I will be curious to know what you think!!
Thanks for joining me on this cinematic journey! I hope these recommendations add a sprinkle of delight to your TV time.
